ABOUT

The Indian Health Service (IHS) Injury Prevention Program is dedicated to raising the health status of American Indians and Alaska Natives by decreasing the incidence of severe injury and death and is the lead program within IHS to address injury disparities in Native communities. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (Injury Center) has helped protect Americans from injury and violence for more than 20 years. Native communities work with the support of CDC’s Injury Center to prevent injuries. IHS and CDC are partnering to host this convening.

The first National Conference in Denver, CO in July 2019 included over 250 attendees. Scientists, public health practitioners, students, and federal, state, and academic partners gathered to support injury and violence prevention efforts in American Indian and Alaska Native communities. We look forward to reconnecting in 2022 and learning from one another!
